If you are looking for the ultimate WordPress Social Media plugin, look no further than Social Snap. This all-in-one social media plugin not only does social sharing well, but a bunch of other social media stuff. And the best thing is, Social Snap is currently on a lifetime license on AppSumo.

But why Social Snap and do you actually need another social media / social sharing plugin? Will Social Snap be able to replace your current set of social media plugins or is it a waste? Read on as we bring you the dibs in our long awaited review of Social Snap.

Social Snap Review: An Introduction

Social signals is an important SEO indicator. With proper social media sharing, you can improve your social signals, hence improve your SEO results. Over the years, WordPress has seen a number of social sharing plugins emerge. Most notable are Social Warfare, Monarch, Easy Social Share Buttons, MashShare, Social Pug and most recently, Social Snap.

All these plugins does social sharing well, meaning you are able to place an attractive set of buttons that either float or are stationary on your blog posts and reviews. While Social Warfare has previously been the leader in terms of performance, the gap has narrowed.

In WP-Rocket’s article on the fastest social sharing plugin for WordPress, Social Pug, Social Snap and MashShare have caught up with Social Warfare. Heck, Social Pug loads a hairbreadth faster than Social Warfare. Add in the fact that Social Warfare had a couple buggy updates that broke tens of thousands of sites a couple of times through the years, and you’ll see why WordPress users have moved away from Social Warfare.

Personally, I’ve moved all my sites away from Social Warfare and unto Monarch, before finally settling down on a combination of either Easy Social Share Buttons (ESSB) and Simple Social Buttons, by WPBrigade. While ESSB is a powerful plugin that enables our unlimited email subscribers hack with Jetpack, it only comes with a single site license on CodeCanyon. This makes it pricey for the kind of agency work that we do. That’s why we have been with Simple Social Buttons ever since.

So when Social Snap landed on AppSumo, I was excited. Not so much for the social sharing features, as you’ll see below, but for the other goodies that Social Snap brings to the table. Read on to find out why.

Social Snap Review: The Features

Social Snap goes beyond just social sharing buttons, which most other plugins do. If all you need are social sharing buttons, Monarch by Elegant Themes is our top pick. At $249, you get unlimited sites, lifetime updates and support for the entire Elegant Themes catalog – including the Monarch plugin and Divi Builder.

Social Snap is no slouch when it comes to social sharing though. Its regular features include:

• Social Follow Buttons
• Social Meta Tags
• Click-to-Tweet

These are features are very similar to Social Warfare, MashShare, Monarch and ESSB though. The latter two do lack the Click-to-Tweet feature. We are impressed with Social Snap’s interface, which is well-thought out and makes configuring the plugin, easy. In comparison, some of the other plugins felt cluttered with too many options and sub-menus.

But what sets Social Snap apart from its competitors are the premium add-ons. They come bundled with the Pro-tier license, which is the tier you are on if you purchased it off AppSumo. They are in no particular order:

Social Snap Review: What We Like

While I personally like all three current add-ons, the Boost Old Posts Add-On wins it for me.

You see, for the longest time, I’ve been searching for a WordPress plugin that automates the reposting of evergreen articles. You see, while it is good to post regularly, older articles don’t see the light of day, unless we repost them on social media. But that is tedious work. And we might end up reposting certain posts that we like. Or that we judge will be effective for our audience.

ThemeIsle’s Revive Old Posts was created to automate the reposting of articles. It is a proven success with 40,000 installs and a 3.9 star rating. And I wanted to get myself a license. But there was never a lifetime license for the Revive Old Posts plugin. It costs $75/year for a single site. If you wanted custom scheduling and queue management, that would set you back a cool $149/year for only three sites.

After Revive Old Posts, came Social Snap with Boost Old Posts Add-on. It only integrated with Twitter and LinkedIn, but that is enough. After all, Revive Old Posts started off with Twitter. The Boost Old Posts Add-On allows us to define the maximum post age, amount of post to publish daily and finally, the custom post type to pull the posts from. It was a maturing add-on that does plenty upfront and well worth its costs, even if its yearly.

And frankly, I was tempted to buy the yearly license, having taken a look at it over a dozen times.

Thus when Social Snap landed on AppSumo, I grabbed myself the full set of plugins just for the Boost Old Posts Add-On.

The other two add-ons are interesting too. If you do not have a license for LoginPress, you will find the Social Login Add-on a God sent. Especially if your client keep forgetting their login details. If you have LoginPress though, you can leave this add-on deactivated, as LoginPress has plenty of advanced features.

The Social Auto Poster Add-On helps you auto-post freshly published on Twitter and LinkedIn. That helps generate social signals and tells Google that your blog is active. This helps save you the hassle of manually publishing your posts on both social media platforms.

Social Snap Review: Weaknesses

While we like Social Snap, the Social Auto Poster and Boost Old Posts Add-Ons only work with Twitter and LinkedIn. This is a weakness that needs to be addressed long term, if Social Snap would like to be the best WordPress social media plugin.

Other than that, the 75 sites limitation on AppSumo is frustrating if you handle a large amount of clients. Personally, when the time comes, I’ll grab the yearly license as that would mean the license has paid itself off.

Social Snap Review: Conclusion

If you do not have a premium social sharing plugin for WordPress, Social Snap is as good as it comes. Its fast, beautiful and easy-to-use. But if you already have a premium social sharing plugin, grab Social Snap for its add-ons. While all three add-ons add significant value to your users, the Boost Old Posts add-on helps improve traffic and with it, conversions.
