The short version
This site collects your email address when you subscribe to Kopi & Kompas. That’s the main thing. We also have server logs and a contact form. We don’t sell your data, we don’t spam, and you can leave at any time.

What we collect and why
Newsletter subscriptions
When you subscribe to Kopi & Kompas, we collect your name (optional) and email address. We use this solely to send the newsletter — tool reviews, buying guides, and operator insights for Southeast Asian business owners. We do not send promotional emails on behalf of third parties.
Contact forms
If you reach out via the contact page, we collect your name, email address, and message. We use this only to respond to your enquiry.
Server logs
Our hosting provider automatically logs standard web server data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. These are used to maintain site security and diagnose technical issues. We do not use them to identify individual visitors for marketing purposes.
Cookies
This site sets a small number of functional cookies required for the site to work (standard WordPress session and login cookies). We do not set advertising or behavioural tracking cookies. If you use a social sharing button, the relevant platform may set its own cookies — their privacy policy applies.
Third-party services
- FluentForms / FluentCRM — processes subscription forms and manages the newsletter list. Your email is stored on our self-hosted server.
- Gravatar — if you leave a comment, your email address is hashed and checked against Gravatar to display a profile picture. No email is transmitted in readable form.
- Affiliate networks — this site contains affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure). Clicking affiliate links does not transfer any personal data about you to us; each network’s own privacy policy governs any data they collect.
Your rights
Under Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2010 and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time — every Kopi & Kompas email contains a one-click unsubscribe link

Data retention
Subscriber data is kept for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your email address is removed from active sending lists. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days. Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry.
